Terms of service

These terms apply to everyone who uses the AuctionsAPI website and API. By using an API key you accept them.

1The service

AuctionsAPI gives access to vehicle data collected from public sources (vehicle auctions and car marketplaces) through an API. The API only returns data: nothing can be bought, sold or bid on through it.

2Keys and access

  • Access needs an API key. Keep it secret and do not share it outside your project; you are responsible for requests made with your key.
  • A free demo key lets you test the API: at most 100 requests, 50 vehicles per request and 3 demo brands.
  • Plans (Small, Unlimited) and their limits, and the price of a Pay per VIN report, are agreed with you in writing before access starts.

3Pay per VIN

  • The existence check is free.
  • One report is charged from your balance only when a record request returns a vehicle.
  • Answers without a vehicle or with an error (for example not found, balance too low, service not enabled) are not charged.
  • The test VINs listed in the documentation are free.
  • Each record request is charged again; keep the record on your side if you need it later.

4The data

Data comes from publicly available sources and is provided "as is". We work to keep it complete and up to date but do not guarantee that every value is accurate, complete or current. AuctionsAPI is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the auctions, marketplaces or other rights holders whose names appear on the site.

5What is not allowed

We may limit or stop a key that breaks these terms.

  • Using the service for anything unlawful.
  • Attempting to break, overload or bypass the limits of the service, or to access other customers' data.
  • Sharing, selling or publishing your API key.

6Availability and liability

We aim to keep the API available at all times but cannot promise that it will never be interrupted. To the extent the law allows, AuctionsAPI is not liable for indirect losses or for decisions made on the basis of the data.

7Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version; for an agreed plan, changes that affect you are announced in writing first.
